Tidal pools are below the cliffs from the cottage where the coastline is a protected underwater refuge, and a small beach just to the right is perfect for swimming and boogie boarding. Surfers ride the waves right in front of the cottage. Walk a block to the seal refuge or two blocks to the village of La Jolla. During the winter months a quick eye can be privy to the migration of whale pods. Year round the grassy bluff invites picnic goers, artists, coastal walkers and ocean viewers.

"We did not want to be in a stuffy hotel room so we searched the Internet and found this historic cottage right on the Pacific Ocean. It sounded very nice, and we hoped that the descriptions were accurate. They were not. The cottage in all of its splendor, history and charm far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we entered the front door it felt like a home away from home.

We enjoyed every nook and cranny of the cottage. We discovered everything from an extensive library to an incredible variety of history right at our fingertips.
The views were soothing and at times breathtaking. Each night, we would meet on the porch to watch as the sun would set into the Pacific Ocean and we would watch for the legendary green flash. The mix of the natural beauty of the landscape and the animals that are easily viewed through the windows of the cottage, from the porches and decks that overlook the ocean or from the cliffs that are merely steps away are a magnificent treasure. The combination of history and modern day is rare, but the physical location and this wonderful cottage provide just that." -- CK, Washington, DC, 2004
"My brother, daughter and I did quite a bit of Internet research to find the perfect place for us to meet this past December for a much needed escape from Boston and Phoenix. How fortunate we were to find La Jolla Cove Cottage. Ideal in its location and accommodations, we could not have imagined how perfectly this home would suit our visions of Pacific Coast beauty and peace coupled with comfort and understated elegance. The charm and intrigue of this historic cottage seriously rivals its dramatic coastal location. Simply put, we can't wait to return." -- WH, Boston, 2004
"Tomorrow we leave this wonderful house with all of it's history, but we take with us our own memories. I understand why this place is considered a piece of heaven on earth. Thank you for sharing it with us my new friend." -- JA, Cleveland, OH, 2004

"It is time for us to head back to Michigan but this cottage and your gracious hosptality will linger long in our hearts. This past week has been filled with wonderful La Jolla memories. It has provided us with the perfect spot for our little family reunion. We hope to return again some day." -- SD, Ann Arbor, MI, 2004
"It is time to leave, our suitcases are packed and we have taken our last walk along the coast line. It has been all we hoped for and more. I believe this is a trip my parents will always remember. Thank you for opening your home and hearts to us. It has felt like home from the time we walked through the door. It will be hard to go back to work. I am going to take a picture of the cottage to work on Monday - it will be my 'retreat' when I need to escape. Thanks again!"
-- CM, Cleveland, OH, 2004
"On other trips to LaJolla, we have walked by this cottage and admired the design and the gardens. To pretend to live here while people are 'ahhing' and pointing has been great fun. How we hate to leave! We especially enjoyed meeting Mary Ruth, the owner." -- SS, Seattle, WA, 2004
